Block detector kit including one block detector and two double bar train sensors, enough control equipment to install one full bi-directional block. This is the same control equipment we use in our pre-engineered block packages for those of you who want to design you own block signaling system or retrofit an existing interlocking plant. Compatible with all IPTrains APC signals. Due to the nature of the APC system (common anode active low multiple fan in) this block detector is not recommended for use with non-APC signals

The block detector board is 3x.5x1 inches and must be protected inside a structure or a line side box. Block detectors are latching devices and are set/unset by input from the train sensors. The train sensors are magnetic reed switches encapsulated inside of an brass bar  and come with 6 inch 3 wire pigtails. They are designed to mount on top of the ties or under the track. Each block requires 2 double bar sensors (included) for full bi-directional operation. The block detector is designed to drive several IPTrains APC common anode style signals, normal output (no train in block) is a low on the green wire, block occupied output is a low on the red wire. Block detector can work off 12/24 VDC or DCC or AC and supplies all power needed for train sensors and APC style signals. Not for use with third party signals.

The block detector and train sensors are 'piece part' items, no system wiring is included. These items are for folks with a good understanding of basic electronics and signaling systems who want to build their own signaling plant

The BD1 block detector is also available in a waterproof self contained track side structure with one foot long pigtail wiring to connect up the external components and signals. The structure dimensions are 3x2x1 inches and it is painted silver in color to resemble a relay box. All active components are encapsulated (potted) in resin for long term trouble free operation out doors.
