This is our on board digital video unit designed to charge from any voltage from 14 to 24 V, it is ideal for DCC or AC controlled trains.
View your trains on your computer from the cab in any Java or ActiveX capable browser or in the included software (Windows only). Save and share AVI or WMV format movies. See your railroad as the engineer sees it. Allows real time viewing of your railroad from the Internet. Why is digital video so much better? read this
In a nutshell
The kit includes everything you need to install on board real time streaming digital video in an engine or car. The kit contains one IP-2061 digital IP cam, one self contained Internet web server, one 802.11g WiFi dongle, one 6 cell NiMH 2300 Mah battery pack and associated power supply circuitry along all connectors and other parts required for the installation. The unit is furnished fully assembled, you only need to hook up the input power, the rest is plug and play. All leads are left long to facilitate installation, shorten to fit.
The DVRACLV differs from our basic DVRAC only in the area of power, it uses our 6 cell battery and can not provide TrainUPS power, otherwise it is identical except for the fact that it is very flexible about track power. It will use what ever sort of track power you may have, AC/DC/DCC (or none at all with the external charger option).
The first thumbnail photo below shows all components of the DVRACLV except the camera and the second photo shows the IP-2061 camera. Note that components are connected with 'chassis style' wiring to make it easy to find space to fit them in to your locomotive.
Power
The kit has two power options, track power charging only or track power and external charger. The track power charging options will run in any unit with track power pickups and charges off any track power from 14 to 28 volts (fixed DC, variable DC, DCC or even AC) and runs off the included battery when track power is not present to ensure reliable video operations. Trainvision may also be run on un-powered track, run time on un-powered track is better than 3 hours. The optional external charger plugs in and will fast charge the battery inabout 70 minutes.
The track power versions of the DVRACLV are fully compatible with DCC and include a cutoff switch switch to support DCC programing operations.
Installation
Kit requires moderate skill level to install, loco disassembling and some soldering (track pickup wires or jacks) required. The kit will fit comfortably in almost any 'road unit' diesel. Fits most steam engines if tender is used. If space in a small loco is a concern, ask us for the 'loose' battery option to allow you to assemble your own custom 6 AA cell battery pack. The batteries have pre-welded tabs to ease the soldering required if you need to build your own battery pack. Enlarge the thumb nail photos below to get a feel for component sizes.
