A fully signaled and interlocked 4 block passing siding module. Module includes the signals, train sensors, block detectors and all wiring. Available as a simple to assemble kit or pre-wired and ready to operate, just install it and hook up power (12 or 24 VDC). Use this module to add a fully signaled passing siding on your main line. The siding can be up to 50 feet long and the total package can be up to 150 feet long.

Detects trains entering and leaving the block with sealed magnetic sensors that you insert into your ties. Fully supports the included 3 aspect searchlight signals to include the remote yellow aspect (train in adjacent block). Supports backing moves. Movement in/out of the passing siding is handled as main line block entry/exit traffic. All components are fully waterproof and designed for 24x7 operation. Includes two magnets (enough for one train). This is a full passing siding and is cheaper than using two back to back signaled junctions. It is designed to interface with any other IPTrains signaling package.
The blocks are available in lengths of between 10 and 50 feet (select in options) and come with pre-wired backbone cables that interconnect all the components. Since this is a passing siding there are two cables in the double track portion of the package. All you have to do to install the RTR package is to mount the signals, press the train sensors into the inside of your tie, mount the track side relay box and connect up power. The package can run off track power (constant DC or DCC) or a separate DC supply. In the kit version you will connect signals, train sensors and block detectors to the 4 block buss cables using simple solder less snap on wire connectors (included). All wiring is color coded and comes with full instructions. Kit assembly time is about 3 hours.
When configuring the module you need to specify siding type (see the first thumbnail), length of the lead in track (Dim A) and length of the other blocks ( Dim B) and (Dim C). This module requires aux contacts on your switch machines, if you don't have aux contacts, use our optional magnetic turnout sensors. In the RTR version we wire the turnout sensors to be mounted on the curved side of the switch (top mount). If you need it on the straight side or you want a bottom mount, tell us that in special instructions when you order.
You also need to select the type of signals on the 'inside' of the siding (shown in blue on the thumbnail). You will have the choice of either a dwarf or a SL1/3. If clearance is tight, a dwarf is a good choice. You also need to select the one 'outside' signal type on the passing track (shown in pink). For an outside signal, a shorty looks terrific, esp. if combined with a tall SL1/3 on the inside.
The module includes interconnects on both ends to allow you to connect it to any other IPTrains block signaling or interlocking module. Power may be shared between modules to simplify wiring. The diagram below shows the internal wiring of the module including train sensors, the block detector module and the signals. In the RTR version all of that wiring is done for you, we take care of the complexity, you hook it up and it just works!
Sensor options include our standard in tie train sensor or our highly sensitive bar double sensor. The double bar sensor include both the red and the green sensor in one waterproof package and may be mounted on the ties to the right of the rail or below grade beneath the right rail.
